CONA OPEN CALL APPLICATION FOR INTERNATIONAL ARTIST AT CONA RESIDENCY IN MUMBAI - CONA
For international artists at any stage of career including students or fresh graduates.
The Residency will take place between OCTOBER and MARCH. The duration of the residency would be between 1 month to 3 months, and the dates will be locked post selection, according to studio availability and with the mutual agreement of CONA and the applicant artist/s.
The practitioners invited may not be limited to the visual arts alone; the applicant may be an artist , researcher, writer, designer, musician or chef i.e. from any discipline including art, design, performing arts, culinary and more.
CONA is a non-profit artists-run initiative, a space that has emerged from our uncertain settlement; a state of in-between-ness that becomes the way of living, of being. It aims to dissolve the boundaries between design and art, between the vernacular and the sophisticated.
CONA is currently being funded by the CONA Team including the space itself and a few workshops and talks; but we are not in a position to fund a resident practitioner. Therefore costs towards travels, rent against the studio and accommodation as well as meals will have to be borne by the artist-in-residence by himself/herself or arrange for their own funding support*.
* mail at firstname.lastname@example.org for further details
We, at CONA, will be able to accommodate a single artist (with his/her partner).
A studio apartment with an attached toilet, a kitchen, laundry facility, Internet will be provided within the residency costs. Home-made food and services such as Editing Studio, Translation/Transcription, Projector or other equipment, Fabrication will be available at separate costs.
This is a home stay situation yet one would have an individual floor dedicated to him/her without the interference of anybody. Two members of the CONA team stay below and the rest have a studio next door, thereby encouraging an exchange of ideas and a sense of hospitality and warmth.
