Opening of CONA & Talk by Dr.Suraj Pandit on Kanheri,Traders & Mumbai - CONA
Dr.Suraj A. Pandit, has done his PhD on the topic “Religious Development of Buddhism Understood through the Art of Kanheri” under the guidance of Prof. A. P. Jamkhedkar. He has chaired the board of studies in Ancient Indian History Culture and Archaeology, University of Mumbai from 2009 to 2012. He has received the Justice K.T.Telang Scholarship for Indology by Asiatic Society of Bombay for the year 2006 – 07. He has delivered various lectures on Kanheri Caves in Sri Lanka, etc and have two books “Age of Traikutakas “ 2012 and the “Buddhist and Pashupata Caves in Mumbai”, 2005 to his merit. He was a research scholar on “Sahyadra Khanda” of Skanda Purana funded by Ministry of Government of India since 2008, has worked on “Inscriptions in Western Indian Caves” a project supported by Indian Council of Historical Research , 2003-2004 amongst others. He has been a senior Historian Consultant on Shishupalgad and Ajanta Management Plan Committee for the Archaeological Survey of India, Government of India until 2010.
